What is TridentList?
TridentList is a mailing list management service provided by Trident Software Pty Ltd. TridentList is a system that allows our clients to create and maintain their own opt-in e-mail mailing lists. TridentList handles all subscribe / remove requests as well as the delivery of client's e-mails to the mailing list subscribers.

Do I need to install anything on my computer of server to use TridentList?
No you don't - TridentList software runs on our systems located in a Washington DC facility. TridentList is provided as a service, not as software. All you need to do is place "how-to-subscribe" instructions on your web site (or communicate them in some other way).

How do I open an account with TridentList?
Just go to the Sign-up page and fill in the form.

How much does it cost to open an account?
It's free to open an account. Plus, you get 1000 free points so you will be able to try out the system and make sure it suits your needs before you commit any funds.

How will my clients / web site visitors be able to subscribe to my TridentList mailing list?
When you create a TridentList mailing list, you will be able to choose a domain name for your list such as MyNewsletter.optin.biz or CorpXYZ.tridentlist.com.
 
People will be able to subscribe to your mailing list by visiting www.YourListDomain. You will be able to fully customize the www.YourListDomain web page to fit the look and feel of your web site.

Will I get a monthly bill?
No - you need to keep your account balance positive by buying TridentList points before you use them. We will notify you when your account balance gets low.

Can I buy a mailing list?
TridentList is a system that helps you build and maintain your own opt-in mailing list. We don't sell mailing lists.

Can I send HTML messages using TridentList?
Yes you can. TridentList treats an HTML message just like an ordinary plain text message. Please make sure you don't forget to include removal instructions in your message though.

Can I send messages with attachments using TridentList?
Yes you can. But please remember that messages larger than 50Kb are subject to extra fees and that there is a 700Kb limit on message size (for more information, please see Pricing). Make sure you check the estimated message cost shown in your account management interface before you authorize the message to be sent out.

How much does it cost to use TridentList?
The cost of using TridentList depends on your usage. To work out the cost, please have a look at the pricing page.

How many subscribers can I have?
There is no limit on the number of subscribers your mailing list can have. However, the cost of sending an e-mail to your list will depend on the number of subscribers.

What if I need more than one mailing list?
You can setup multiple mailing lists under your account. This is useful if you wish to send out several types of content. For example, you can have a separate newsletter mailing list for each of your products. This will allow you to target your newsletter specifically to people interested in a particular product.

What will my subscribers see in the To: and Bcc: fields?
The Cc: field will be empty. The To: field will contain their e-mail address and optionally their name or a fixed text (like Subscriber or Customer). You can control exactly what appears in the To: field using the List Options page on the List tab.

Can I export information about my subscribers?
Yes you can. You will find the Export tool on the Subscribers tab.

I already have a mailing list. Can I import it into TridentList?
You can, provided your list is 100% opt-in, i.e. the list was not purchased or obtained from a third-party and every single person on that list explicitly and specifically requested to be subscribed.
 
There are two ways to import your list. The recommended way it to use your existing system to send your subscribers the instructions on how to subscribe to your new TridentList mailing list and tell them that they must follow these instructions if they wish to continue receiving information from you. This method doesn't cost you anything (as far as TridentList charges are concerned) and it also filters out incorrect e-mail addresses and people who are no longer interested in remaining subscribed.
 
If this method is unavailable or undesirable (perhaps your old mailing list system is no longer functioning) you can import your existing mailing list directly into TridentList subject to our approval. You will need to request the import and our staff will review your request to make sure that your existing mailing list is indeed opt-in. There is a fee of $15 to $80, depending on the size of your list, however, you will receive 1000 TridentList points for every $5 of this fee. For more information, please e-mail us.
 
IMPORTANT: You must NOT try to import your mailing list by requesting subscription to your TridentList mailing list on behalf of your existing / old subscribers. Doing so is a violation of TridentList Terms of Service.
